This chilly scene was photographed in DownEast Maine earlier this week after a wild blizzard.  The cold is nothing new to Islandia’s northern friends but an interesting thing about this photo is the location on the lower Machias River in Washington County (between Bar Harbor and Nova Scotia).  This is purportedly the location of the first significant sea battle of the Revolutionary War between the British vessel “Margaretta” and the American manned vessel “Unity”.  The “Unity” won, of course.  See the photo of a painting of the battle below.
