Former Sen. Craig W. Barshinger accomplished an upset in this year’s general election  in the race for St. John’s senator-at-large, beating incumbent Carmen M. Wesselhoft by 1,804 votes. Craig kept a steady lead throughout the evening and ended up with 12,027 votes.
Craig has lived on St. John for 28 years. Born in California, he spent his early years in New York and Pennsylvania, but has lived all his adult life in the Virgin Islands. He went to the University of
Delaware to study biology and chemistry then to graduate school at the University of Aix-Marseille to study marine biology.   Craig has worked for DPNR Division of Fish & Wildlife and for the Dept. of Education. And did a fine job as Senator-At-Large in the 26th legislature.ÂÂ
One of Craig’s first projects this term will be reducing the high rates we are paying for electricity in the islands. Go Craig!!
