Over 200 people attended a meeting with Government officials last week to discuss the new property revaluations.  Most attending were there to demonstrate  outrage at the disproportionate increase in values on St. John compared with St. Thomas and St. Croix.  Some of the reasons given for the unfairness of the model used on St. John were the National Park lands that produce no taxes or sales for our island and that most of the properties sold on St. John are at the high end of the price range.   There are not enough comparables for properties sold  on the low end of the market as these properties seldom change hands.  Irate citizens are promising a class action law suit if this inequity is not addressed soon.

 Stay tuned for developments.
