Stimulus Money

According to today’s Virgin Islands Daily News, the U.S. Virgin Islands has been awarded $8.2 million in federal stimulus money for the Virgin Islands Energy Office’s proposed plan to prioritize energy savings and increase the use of renewable energy in the territory.

“This funding will provide a significant boost in our bid to move the Virgin Islands away from total dependency on fuel oil to generate electricity and water. In addition, the Virgin Islands Energy Office’s State Energy Plan provides for the promotion of energy efficiency and the increased use of renewable energy,” Gov. John deJongh Jr. said in a Government House statement released Monday.
